World Kindness Week

World Kindness Week or RAK it up in Wello

The Wellington Youth Interagency has decided to choose a practical activity each school term to focus community interest on the young people of our town.

World Kindness Week is being celebrated across the State from 8th to 13th of November 2010.

World Kindness Week aims to promote acts of kindness between students, staff and parents in schools.

Our school will celebrate World Kindness Week culminating in World Kindness Day for schools on Friday 12th November. The Youth Interagency has negotiated with the Wellington Times to publish evidence of Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) in the paper during the lead up, in the week and following our activities.

A focus is for younger people to deliver a RAK to an older member of the community in the week.

The following are some examples:

· Ask your class to write a nice letter to an older relative or neighbour, saying that it is World Kindness Week.

· Visit a retirement centre, old people's home or hospital and sing or play music.

· Class writes stories for school newsletter on Kindness.
