Peter Macbeth and Yvonne Hill, of the Regional Aboriginal Education Team, will be visiting our school tomorrow afternoon to lead us in the first, of what will be a series of professional development sessions. We will be examining what we are already doing well and then planning around teaching and learning experiences that will aim at improving student outcomes for Aboriginal students. We will also be going through the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Plan and the data collections that schools will be asked to collect. The main focus will be an attempt to strengthen links with our school community and ensure that everyone feels welcome and valued as parents and friends of our school. In turn, this will hopefully allow our students to be more actively engaged in their learning and we should see improved outcomes across the board.
