Last week, 52 Year 5 students and three staff members (Mrs Styles, Miss Pedron and Mrs Batho) attended an excursion to The Great Aussie Bush Camp in Tea Gardens. Students were eager to leave Wellington at 6am for their 3 day excursion. All students had an enjoyable time participating in numerous activities such as: Archery, Indoor Rock-climbing, Flying Fox, Damper making, Low-rope obstacle courses and the Giant Swing. These activities encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones and try new things. Teamwork, using initiative, cooperation, trust, accuracy and many other skills were the main focus of all activities. Students also participated in games nights, camp fire stories and a group disco.
Although the weather was not desirable only one of the scheduled activities was cancelled. Students were able to bunk with their friends and learn to become responsible for their own sleeping areas. The food was fantastic as were the outdoor instructors for each group. All students were extremely well behaved and this will be a memorable experience for all involved!
