Swimming Carnival

The carnival was already underway when I walked through the gate into the Wellington pool last Friday. The first thing I noticed was a hive of activity and everything seemed to be happening in a very orderly but relaxed manner. It was a nice feeling because everything was going so well.

Although the day was overcast and there was the occasional shower of rain, the weather was perfect for the carnival. It was warm yet not like the scorching hot days we had been experiencing.

Lots of children were in the small pool participating in their novelty events, while others were swimming their races in the heats of their age divisions in the various strokes.

I had to admire the loyalty many students showed to their Houses and their eagerness to participate. Lots of children were doing it tough yet they kept trying their hardest to make it to the end.

Butterfly was definitely the hardest stroke for a lot of swimmers and very exhausting yet everyone was determined to make it to the end.

"Well done, to everyone. Our swimmers seemed to be trying so hard and congratulations to all of the many place-getters, many of whom may get the opportunity to go on to swim at the District carnival later this (27thFebruary) month in Dubbo.

Many "thanks" to all of our teachers who took on the various roles to ensure the carnival's success.

It takes a considerable amount of time and effort to organise this carnival and while there are always willing helpers, much of the credit must go to Kate Boland. Most, if not all  of this work, Kate puts into the organisation before, during and after the school carnival is done in her own time and we think she is fantastic - Never forgotten and always appreciated!

This wouldn't have happened as successfully either, if parents weren't there to help. So to all who lent a hand, please know that you being there to help our students have such an enjoyable day, was much appreciated.

We have celebrated the Winning House and the age champions at both the carnival itself and at our Monday assembly so now it is important that we publish these details.

Aisha Sullivan won the Pedron individual medal for trying so hard in all of her events.

Kiara Sullivan and George Parkes were our Senior Girl and boy swimming champions,

Hannah Petrovic and Brad O'Brien were our 11 Year girl and boy swimming champions, and

Kyla Tasker and Arthur Taylor were our junior girl and boy swimming champions.

Evanswas the overall points- winner and claims the Champion House award for this year's swimming carnival. Congratulations to all swimmers in Evan House for your contribution of points to make Evans the winner.
