The National Young Leaders Day

On Sunday 28th February Mrs Styles took our school leaders Josie Taylor, Evan Colliss, Emmerson Humphries and Charlie Edwards down to Homebush to attend the National Young Leaders Conference. Artie Taylor was already down there and met us at the conference. Thank you to Louise Taylor for bringing Artie over for the conference. Everyone was very excited to see Artie.

The conference started at 10am on Monday 29th February at Allphones Arena. There were over 6000 students in attendance from all over NSW. Our leaders were able to catch up with their friends from St Mary's and Yeoval Central.

The four guest speakers for the day included Nathan Want a young motivational speaker, Melanie Lee an author of a children's book, Commander Andrew Scipione the police commander for NSW and Wellington's own Ben Austin a Paralympian. All speakers told us of what they think a leader is and how they came to be where they are today. At the end of the day there was a small panel of 4 young leaders including Leticia Lentin who works for Google, Scott Tweedie a TV presenter, Rebecca Kerswell who is a world renowned chocolate maker and Veronica Morland who started the 1st cat café.

The biggest message we all took home was that if you master the little things big things can be achieved. Also leaders are people who do what they say they are going to do.
