Last term it was pleasing to note that we had broken the 90% target and actually achieved a 91.2% attendance rate across the school. We are asking all parents to do what they can to achieve an even higher figure this time despite the fact that Winter is on its way. It is a pity that sometimes it is because we have a small number of students with chronic absenteeism that we see the grade averages tumble.
Students need to attend if they are to grasp new concepts and learn lesson content. The students with a poor attendance record are the ones that generally perform poorly. We need parents to help foster a positive work ethic in their children and to value the need for a good education so that they increase their chances of ultimately being valuable in the contributions they make to the communities in which they live.
