Local Speakers for Stage 2 Students

The students of Stage 2 at Wellington Public School have been enjoying their unit of study in HSIE entitled 'People and their Beliefs'.

This has involved learning about different religious groups and forms of spirituality in our community.

As a way of extending the students' knowledge and understanding, numerous local people were invited to our school to share their religious journey.

The first focus was the Christian religion and the invited speakers were able to speak about their particular denomination and their shared beliefs.

As well as our visitors addressing the group individually, Charlotte Frankham, a student at the local Christian School, sang while accompanied by her mother, Helen on the piano.

Last week, a group of Aboriginal elders visited us and discussed their aboriginal heritage, customs and spirituality.

In both cases, the students asked some very thoughtful questions and were a most receptive audience.

A special thanks to all speakers who were so generous with their time and who connected so positively with their audience.
