NAIDOC Day took place on Thursday 19thSeptember. It was widely praised as a tremendous day. We had a number of special guests attending to run numerous activities. A real highlight of the day was the Aboriginal dancing in the hall following the lunch break. It was great to see a large number of students perform so well after only a short rehearsal. Another highlight of the day was a visit by Waratahs and Wallabies star Kurtley Beale. Kurtley was at ease with the students talking with them about his journey in professional sport. He may well have had to ice his hand on the way home signing his autograph a thousand times. We were very appreciative of his time and Kurtley himself said he enjoyed the visit and would be keen to visit again when his schedule allows.
We must thank Shirley Thompson for her efforts in coordinating the day with the assistance of Trent Forrest, Ali Beale and Shawn Todhunter. Shirley and her team scheduled a fantastic program for the day and it was very successful. As always, we had great support from the local community and organisations such as WACHS. A huge thank you to all who helped make the day a tremendous success.
