Last week all classes were offered time to learn about healthy ears and the problems associated with Otitis Media and not blowing your nose properly. Our visiting hearing time assisted us with determining our needs to determine the number and type of sound systems we would need to purchase to have one in every classroom. These systems are designed to deliver clear and audible sound to all parts of the classroom and assist children with some form of temporary or mild to moderate hearing loss. Statistics show that there could be a significant number of children with some hearing loss and research has shown that these sound systems have been beneficial in learners in engaging more meaningfully in their lessons. It stands to reason that children who can't hear properly aren't going to learn as well as they should and this can flow on to speech and language difficulties as well. We hope to have sound systems in every classroom as soon as we can have them ordered, delivered and installed.
