Looking Ahead – the first four weeks

Looking Ahead – the first four weeks

Today and tomorrow we will see the introduction of sound systems to all classrooms which will assist all students, especially those who may have a hearing deficit. Staff will receive training this afternoon as to the capabilities and use of this new equipment.

Today we also expect to see the Royal Far West speech team returning, and to assess the progress being made by some of our students following the support they have received from the specialists in Manly where the lessons have been delivered using internet communication.

Next Monday we will farewell 46 students and 4 staff as they head off on their week-long excursion to our National Capital, Canberra. This is always exciting and a valued educational experience for all of those taking part. Have a great time and be fine ambassadors for our school.

Next Tuesday, in Week 2,  we hope to have a number of community interagency support groups presenting to staff and discussing their services and how they might best support our school. This will follow our parent partnership meeting scheduled for the morning.

Week 3 is Education Week and also National Literacy and Numeracy week. An Open Day invitation is extended to families to visit students in their classrooms on Wednesday, 31st  July between 12.00 noon and 1.00 pm. Following this we hope parents will be able to stay and have lunch with their children. You might start planning your picnic–style lunch for that day.

Wednesday, 1st August is the next scheduled meeting of the Wellington Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) and we will be able to discuss a fabulous middle-school program offer that has been made to the High School and ourselves called "Indigenous Sky Stories".
