Week 3, Term 3

Yesterday, we welcomed back to school our Year six students who had spent the previous week away on their excursion to the snow and to Canberra.

What an exciting experience it had been and from this time away, each of these students will have lots of memories, many of which will stay with them for a life-time.

They will remember the cold as they stepped from the coach at Cooma and the brief sunny time they had in the snow a Blue Cow before the blizzard conditions struck. It wasn't intentional, but they were experiencing particularly cold and wintry conditions that were to take the morning conditions in the nation's capital to minimum temperatures as low as minus six degrees.

With the cold mornings, however, came some beautiful days to be off exploring many of Canberra's famous tourist destinations. Lake Burley Griffin, Parliament House and its older counterpart, the impressive buildings like the National Library, the Art Gallery and the High Court, the Australian War Memorial, the Water Jet, Carillion, Questacon, the Australian Institute of Sport, Telstra Tower on Black Mountain, Mount Ainsley and the Brindabella ranges were but a few of the attractions that would have caught their inquisitive eyes. All of this, the excitement and social experience of doing things together made for a fantastic five days. Reports were of great kids enjoying themselves and displaying commendable behaviour. It was great to have them back safe and sound and knowing that they had enjoyed their time away.
