Last Thursday, 92 students from Years 3 and 4 travelled to the Warrumbungles for an overnight excursion. Activities included visits to the Warrumbungle Environmental Education Centre (EEC) in the National Park, Siding Spring Observatory and the Coonabarabran Visitors Centre to look at a Diprotodon skeleton which was found in the area. While at the EEC, students participated in various activities including boomerang throwing, GPS tracking, using binoculars, exploring the National Park and dip-netting for water bugs. Students were able to get a glimpse of Saturn, Mars and some common constellations through some telescopes as well as listening to the history of the Warrumbungles and its various animal species in a slideshow presentation. All students are to be congratulated for their excellent behaviour over the two days.
