Student reports - semester 2

Following our class assessment cycle, teachers are now preparing student reports for Semester 2 (Terms 3 and 4). These should be ready to hand to executive supervisors by the end of Week 8, come to the Principal a week later and then ready to be sent home on Friday, 12thDecember in Week 10.

Please share these reports with your children and give praise where praise is due.

Unless there has been significant ill health issues, also be very proud if semester absences are less than 10. If they are down to 3, 2, 1 or zero this is definitely worth celebrating.

We have expectations of every student. Firstly we want to know that they are trying very hard. Every student can try to do their best. If the effort ratings are showing that your child is trying hard please share your pleasure.

If their assessment is ‘Sound' the performance level is appropriate to the grade expectations.

Where they are below this ‘ Sound' rating, then you are probably aware that the teacher has made special provision and adjustments for the difficulties they may be experiencing.

If their performance levels are above ‘sound' then this is certainly something to be proud of. These are the students for whom teachers have high expectations and this is the key to drive them to further academic success. Teacher comments are nearly always positive and relate to the things students can do and because they have achieved the intended outcomes appropriate to their abilities.

If there are ever negative comments parents should share the concerns that the teacher is trying to convey to you. We need parents to value education and talk-up their reasonable expectations and join the parent–teacher partnership to know that we are playing on the same side and want the best for their child/ren.
