Please Be Careful
A near miss was reported to me recently where a small child, in the afternoon after school, ran out between parked cars and straight onto the road to cross to meet the awaiting parents on the other side of the road. This child was lucky that the approaching 4 Wheel-drive was only travelling at a reasonable speed and was able to stop in time to avert a tragedy.
Children of a young age are not necessarily capable of perceiving dangers and although told many times how to cross a road safely don't necessarily take the time to think.
Parents picking up children are asked to park their cars and walk across the road to meet their children either within the school grounds or on the footpath away from the road.
Students, other than the bus students, exiting the school should avoid the bus duty area and leave via the Mitchell Highway gate where the lolly-pop supervisor is present, by the Maxwell Street exit or through either of the Percy Street pedestrian gateways (near the anchor or the pathway leading down from the Office).
Bus duty teachers and support staff are not designated to be on duty outside of the school grounds except when conducting bus lines to the appropriate stationary school bus.
