Following the death of a young girl attending Pitt Town Public School earlier this year due to a falling tree branch, The Department of Education and Communities (DEC) instructed all schools to engage a qualified arborist to inspect all trees in all schools to rate their safety and where necessary the remedial action would follow. It has taken a long time but the suitably qualified arborist we were eventually able to engage last Friday arrived for his tree inspection.
His report has been received and forwarded to our Assets Management people who will organise quotations for the necessary remedial work to be done. Nine trees were recognised as a potential risk and five are recommended for removal. The remaining trees need various pruning and in the majority of cases need the removal of dead wood.
